If you are talking about today’s top European heavy metal acts, then the discussion will head most certainly involve Germany’s Primal Fear. Former Gamma Ray vocalist Ralf Scheepers and bassist/vocalist Mat Sinner, two of the most respected German metal musicians, founded the band in late 1997.

With ten studio albums released, two live releases and a Best Of Compilation, Primal Fear are certainly one of the most beloved and respected Heavy Metal bands around the globe. Their last studio album “Delivering The Black” was their highest chart entry in Germany at Position 13 and charted in 8 other countries, incl. the US Billboard Heatseeker charts on Pos. 16.

After the massive “Delivering The Black” world tour, the band started the songwriting in spring 2015 and recorded @ Hansen Studios in Denmark, with producer Mat Sinner and engineer Jacob Hansen (Vollbeat, Pretty Maids, Amaranthe). Mat Sinner adds: “We’ve learned a lot during the Delivering The Black sessions and the following world tour.

We’ve tried to put this know-how and all the positive energy into the songs and production of “Rulebreaker”. Working the second time with Jacob Hansen and even record in his studio, gave another dimension to our sound, plus the recording comeback of founder member Tom Naumann was the right move”.

“Rulebreaker” combines the strongest Primal Fear moments ever, with a well-balanced typical Primal Fear trademark riff-vibe, crushing songs and some very ambitious musical journeys. Classic and ultra-fresh Primal Fear riff-rockers like the album opener “Angels Of Mercy” or the groove monsters “The End Is Near” or “Bullets And Tears” hit the bulls-eye from the beginning - just like the untamed speed killer “In Metal We Trust” and the metal anthem and title track “Rulebreaker”.

The melodic and unique ballad “The Sky Is Burning” shows a new side of Primal Fear with a new vibe and a monster chorus. And Primal Fear add again a 11 minute plus prog-opus “We Walk Without Fear”, spiced with big orchestral arrangements and complex sound designs.

Italian guitar player and composer Luca Turilli is not just a musician with extraordinary skills, but a musical visionary and genius too. With the symphonic metal band RHAPSODY he wrote musical history, released ten studio albums, including the genre-defining milestones Legendary Tales, Symphony of Enchanted Lands and Dawn of Victory. The media dubbed  this majestic and unique sound “Hollywood Metal”, while some years later it became known as “Film Score Metal.” Both genres were clearly describing a new style of music based on the connection between the most epic and glorious power/speed metal of the late ‘80s with Luca’s infinite passion for the cinema and the world of soundtracks.  This genre - enriched by folk music influences, guitar playing of neo-classical inspiration and lyrics related to the fantasy “sagas” created by Luca Turilli himself - influenced a whole generation of new bands in the years to follow. In time RHAPSODY became one of the most important acts of the last decade in the world of heavy/rock music. An exclusive collaboration with Sir Christopher Lee, the most filmed actor in the history of cinema, marked one of the highlights in the career of RHAPSODY, singing on 'The Magic of the Wizard’s Dream', as well being a narrator for the Dark Secret saga, adding a great pathos to the heroic tale told over 5 albums.

In August 2011, after fifteen years, ten official albums, and more than 1.5 million copies sold worldwide, the cycle related to the fantasy sagas (the epic tale on which all the music & lyrics of the band were based) came to an end. At the same time the two founding members Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli decided to exercise a friendly split and continue their artistic careers separately. Staropoli agreed to continue as RHAPSODY OF FIRE while Luca Turilli moved on as RHAPSODY, adding his name on top of the logo due previous legal reasons not allowing him to use the word RHAPSODY alone. The new line-up, consisting of long-time members Dominique Leurquin (guitar) and Patrice Guers (bass), was completed by drummer Alex Landenburg (21 OCTAYNE, MEKONG DELTA) and vocalist Alessandro Conti (TRICK OR TREAT). Conti is a real vocal virtuoso, able to pass with extreme easiness from crystalline high-toned vocal lines to whispered low tones, from aggressive to lyrical/operatic parts. He learned to control his vocal expression studying as a tenor at the »Corale Lirica Rossini«, the same school attended by the great and unforgettable maestro Luciano Pavarotti. The first result was the successful Ascending To Infinity epic, released in June 2012, reaching high chart entries in a.o. Germany (#32), Switzerland (#55), Italy (#56) and France (#58). »Ascending To Infinity« also marked a new chapter in music history: the birth of Cinematic Metal. “The love for the cinema and the movie soundtracks is something clear and evident in each song of the album. The epic, cinematic impact of the music is something flowing in my blood and carved in my genetics”, commented Luca Turilli, who creates every single note for each section of the orchestra by himself.

Always in search for a new challenge, the composer and neo-classical guitar virtuoso, now also credited as piano and keyboard player too, went another step further and brought his vision of Cinematic Metal to a new dimension: Prometheus, Symphonia Ignis Divinus. Seven months of composition, three months of production, over 50 days of mix, two choirs, several special guests, including Ralf Scheepers (PRIMAL FEAR), Dan Lucas (KARO) and David Readman (PINK CREAM 69). Including 70 minutes of epic, cinematic sounding music - bombastic and dramatic as never before - the new RHAPSODY masterwork will lead the listener to an emotional and memorable journey.

The album was composed and produced once again by Luca Turilli, responsible as always for all the orchestral and choral arrangements. It was recorded and mixed at the Backyard Studios of Sebastian Roeder (BONFIRE a.o.) and mastered by Christoph Stickel (Michael Schenker’s TEMPLE OF ROCK a.o.) at MSM studios.
